Southside Guest House Edinburgh  I had the good luck to stay at Southside Guesthouse for the first 2 nights of a five-week trip to the UK and Europe. I couldn’t have had a better start. My room was small but very comfortable, and the breakfast served each day was the best I had in my entire trip. Franco and Lynne were both charming and helpful. I soon learned the value of Southside�s location: within a  mile there are many little restaurants, all good, and every shop or convenience I needed. The buses go by every 5 minutes, and its an easy 15 minute walk to the Royal Mile. The neighbourhood is interesting during the day and quiet in the night. This is a elegant guest house in a great location

Southside Guest House Edinburgh Southside GH offers an ideal place to stay in Edinburgh: lovely rooms, sparkling clean, delicious breakfast. What raises Southside to a higher level, however, are the owners. One can travel a long time before finding such nice people. You have the sense that you are the guest in the home of good friends. Some of the rooms make ideal romantic retreats, with four-poster beds and plenty of space. The inn sits near a major intersection, which provides the plus of frequent bus service to city center (5-7 minutes by bus). You can easily walk to the castle, museums, etc: it’s about 20 minutes on foot to the castle. The walk takes you by the University and the lively student quarter, with many charming coffee houses (personal favorite, the aptly named Black Medicine). The slight downside of the location is traffic noise early in the morning (I had a front room). In the evening, in contrast, traffic dies down by 8 and I did not hear much noise. I’m an early riser, so I did not care, but if you want to sleep in, I’d suggest a room at the back, not facing the street.

Southside Guest House Edinburgh This has to be one of the best guesthouses we have ever stayed in . The location is great with just a short walk to the centre and the rooms are clean, comfortable and individual. Breakfasts were outstanding with a great choice and cooked to perfection. It is obvious Lynne and Franco are passionate about what they do and the result is a most enjoyable stay. We will definitely be returning.

Southside Guest House Edinburgh My wife and I spent 2 blissful nights at this charming establishment . Lynne and Franco were the most gracious and friendly hosts. Our room was beautifully decorated, spacious and very comfortable. The Guest House is well located with a short walk to Edinburgh Castle and the Golden Mile. Breakfast was a treat, with a buffet and a la carte offerings. We would certainly stay at this guest house again.

Southside Guest House Edinburgh  We had no problem finding the guest house after an early flight – a 20 minute walk from the airport bus stop in the centre of Edinburgh – and we warmly greeted by Franco. We were able to leave our luggage until the room was ready, and walked back into Edinburgh through Holyrood Park. On our return to Southside, our case was in the room, and we noticed all the little extras – tea, coffee, biscuits, bottled water, and mints. The room was very comfortable, the bathroom luxurious. Plenty of places to eat within a very short distance. Breakfast was excellent – such a variety, so many choices – and no, we didn’t need any lunch after that, even with sightseeing for most of the day. Franco and Lynne were marvellous hosts. On our last day, once again we were able to leave our luggage, and were given a front door key so that we could pick it up in time for our evening flight. All in all an excellent city break with no complaints whatsoever.

Southside Guest House Edinburgh We spent a most enjoyable week-end at Southside & would recommend it to anyone .The guest house was tastefully decorated, exceptionally clean & the food was excellent, very good quality & tastefully served & prepared by the hosts. The breakfast had something to suit everyone’s taste, quality, sums it all up. Southside Guest House was a wonderful experience for us. Lynne and Franco were attentive hosts who are proud of their business and made us feel very much at home.� As it was our first stay in Scotland, they suggested sights to see which was very helpful.It is near enough to town to walk, and with bus routes nearby, that is easy also.� The breakfasts were above and beyond and started each day in a great way.
