Thank you once again Lynne and Franco for a delightful stay at Southside. It’s our third visit in less than 4 years and cannot wait to come back soon. Keep up the good work.

We will come back to Southside. The city centre is a 15 minute walk, not far at all. City buses run all the time. We always felt safe in Edinburgh, even at night during festival.
Southside Guest House Edinburgh We stayed 3 nights Aug. 24 -27, during the busy festival season. My husband & I stayed in Room , which is probably the most beautiful room at the inn. It was decorated Art Deco style, with a four poster bed, leather couch, a sitting area, and French doors that opened up to a backyard garden. This was our first trip to Scotland, and we were so lucky to have found this gem! Our hosts, Franco & Lynne, are such lovely people. Breakfasts were cooked to order , you can have a full Scottish breakfast, and even a mimosa! Scotland has truly captivated us, and we can’t wait to go back someday. We will come back to Southside. Our room was enormous. I loved the polished wooden floors and all the different decor styles and colours throughout the house, which makes it a very memorable place. We only regretted not being able to stay longer but will definitely stay at Southside in the future.
Southside Guest House Edinburgh I stayed here with my husband and with my sister who was visiting us in the UK from the States. We had a charmed week as the weather was so good! The owners were on holiday but we were well looked after by Derek and Coranne who were extremely helpful and the breakfasts were lovely with all sorts of delightful extras in addition to the traditional Scottish breakfast. The house itself is full of character and has a pleasant atmosphere. Our room overlooked the street and I was initially concerned there would be a lot of traffic noise. However, the road was actually very quiet during the night and the house itself was quiet. Our room was enormous. I loved the polished wooden floors and all the different decor styles and colours throughout the house, which makes it a very memorable place. There is a pub opposite and great Italian restaurant just down the road. Well served by local buses, 5 mins to Princes Street. We only regretted not being able to stay longer but will definitely stay at Southside in the future.

My recent stay at the Southside Guesthouse was wonderful.
Southside Guest House Edinburgh My recent stay at the Southside Guesthouse was wonderful. The house itself is incredibly welcoming, you really feel like you are going home each night you return. The owners couldn’t have been nicer. They knew me by name and the morning breakfast was excellent. They even made special accomodations for me when I had to leave early one morning for a day trip. The added bonus is that you feel like you are staying in a neighborhood in Edinburgh and are not far from all of the main attractions.

This is just how a guesthouse should be. Tastefully decorated, clean, pleasant owners, and a wonderful breakfast with free-range eggs and a veggie alternative on offer. I will return!

The breakfasts are wonderful – my mother particularly liked the Buck’s Fizz! I can’t see why anyone would stay anywhere else!
Southside Guest House Edinburgh I stayed in Southside with my partner, mother, father, brothers, sisters, aunties and uncles for 4 days over our wedding. The Hotel was fantastic with the attention to detail, friendliness at the highest level. The breakfasts are wonderful – my mother particularly liked the Buck’s Fizz! This is maybe the best BB which we visited.
Southside Guest House Edinburgh The location is ideal, walking distance from Princes St with a private parking space. The room was very elegant and interesting with some Picasso drawings and comfortable old furniture, a view on the pretty gardens at the back and so perfectly clean. A warm good looking bathroom again spotlessly clean, a powerful shower but a little bit too much like “une douche ecossaise” which means varying from hot to cold and vice-versa. Lovely towels and delicious teas, biscuits and hot chocolate to make it such a relaxing stay. The breakfast is so good, hmm, with fresh fruits and juice, warm but not soggy toast, plenty of hot tea and succulent Scottish “Full Monty” and a glass of champagne with freshly squeezed orange juice to finish. Our hosts are very friendly and the whole atmosphere in the hotel is relaxing. This is maybe the best BB which we visited.

Our experience was a total pleasure from start to finish, and not one that many 4 star hotels could match
Southside Guest House Edinburgh This place is listed in the Lonely Planet Guide to Edinburgh as one of the top 5 Coolest Guest Houses – I didn’t know that before I booked, but can understand why. Beautiful, comfortable rooms, friendly, personal and attentive service, amazing breakfasts and an easy 20 minute stroll into the city centre. This is a great base for exploring the city, and a welcome place to return to. I was with my 10 year old, and whilst I wouldn’t say this is the right place for tiny tots, it’s just right for 10+, with DVD players in the rooms, Blockbusters 5 minutes walk away, loads of affordable restaurants in the vicinity and a ‘well cool’ playground in the park just a couple of streets away. Our experience was a total pleasure from start to finish, and not one that many 4 star hotels could match
